The Coral Restoration Foundation: Coral Awareness

Earlier this spring, The Coral Restoration Foundation invited Ms. Margret and Ms Jessica’s class to help raise awareness for two types of coral: Staghorn Coral and Elkhorn Coral. Students participated in an art project that encouraged students to think about the similarities/differences of the endangered species. Our very own student, Ben, drew an amazing Elkhorn Coral that was chosen out of all of the Upper and Middle Keys Schools and has his artwork displayed on Coral Cards that are available at participating Tom Thumb Convenience Stores. Proceeds will support the planting of future coral. Today, Captain Coral and the CRF team surprised Ben and our runners-up: Flynn, Ryan, and Lilly with awards. The whole class got a visit from Captain Coral and had a slime party to learn more about how we can help save the coral. We are so proud of our Seadragons and their passion to help restore coral. We are Ocean Heroes!
